Pic-a-nic, Trees, and Wind

Bring your picnic baskets, gingham blankets, and kites!

We are inviting everyone to a Pic-a-nic on the Quad, Sunday, September 21, at 12:30pm! After we eat we will be playing childhood games such as cops and robbers, freeze tag, slide slide slippery slide, duck duck goose, and more. If you are burning to play a game you haven't played for years or if you've always wanted to make one up, we promise not to judge you any worse than the kids at recess did.

If you'd like to contribute to the potluck, email us if you are interested in bringing: finger sandwiches, chips, deserts, cookies, fruit, drinks or utensils.

We would also like to thank everyone who went to explore the Arboretum, Hartley Gardens, and Japan House with us. The tree climbing was grand! Photos and smiles are posted.

Garden Exploring and Childhood Games

Thank you all for a glorious first meeting. The secret Unbirthday Party went so well! Over 40 people came, even in the rain. We now have 160+ in our mailing list. We are happy that the cake was all eaten.

We discussed the Society's thesis, timeline of events, and childhood dreams. Our tentative schedule is on our event page and calendar.

Tree House Society is going Garden Exploring, Sunday, September 7, 1:30pm-4pm! We are meeting at Hartley Gardens to explore the nearby fields, gardens, and Japan House. Hopefully it will be a new experience for many people!

We will be playing old school childhood games like tag, hide and seek, and red light green light. We might even have a hopscotch tournament. If you can, bring chalk, kickball's, and your feet.

Hartley Gardens is south east of FAR/PAR. Go south on Lincoln and on your left you'll see amazing living things. We'll be there.

First Meeting!

Our first meeting will take place Thursday, September 4th, 7:30pm, in the Basement of the English Building.

We will introduce ourselves and the club's intentions and character. We'll try to make it short and sweet. An optional intro activity of secret sorts will be planned so that you may meet others and be more human.

If you cannot attend, then sign up for our mailing list (http://listserv.illinois.edu/wa.cgi?SUBED1=tree-house-society&A=1) for all the important information.

Also, thank you very much if you saw us on Quad day. Everyone was very nice and we enjoyed meeting you all. Photos are up on our Flickr.

If you like musicals, there is a free musical Wednesday Aug 27, 7:30pm, in Foellinger Auditorium. It's held annually and the most incredible thing to see in August. Seriously. Amazing.
